ELEANOR LOUISE BUTT’S 10 METRE COMMISSIONED WORK ‘MUSIC & TREES’ ON VIEW AT HER BAR, MELBOURNE CBD

Eleanor Louise Butt’s ten metre commissioned work ‘Music and Trees’ can now be viewed installed at the newly opened HER BAR in Lonsdale Street, Melbourne
.
“During the spring of 2021 I travelled through a forest daily to get to the studio where I made this painting. The light shone through the new leaves and shimmered in such a beautiful way that I wanted to re-create the same sense of shifting light within the work. I see this painting as an energetic outburst in which forms and colours intertwine and bounce off one another, pursuing a sense of movement and excitement, with a glowing veil of yellow.” Eleanor Louise Butt, 2021

Established by HQ Group, the team behind Arbory and Arbory Afloat on the north bank of the Yarra River, HER is touted as a “wonderland of modern classic food, sophisticated drinks, art and music”. Located across four levels of a Federation building, which has undergone an extensive renovation, the name “HER” derives from the feminine architectural features of the building and speaks to the building’s context and its curious history.
.
For cocktail-drinking, with chic, Parisian-inspired interiors, it features soaring woven cane ceilings and leather banquettes, while a 10-metre painting of colour and movement by local artist Eleanor Louise Butt sits above the long, zinc-covered bar, with more artworks coordinated by Lily Mora (Sunday Salon) in Salon Hangs on the walls.
